The African American community is an important and vibrant part of the Sacramento economic, social and cultural landscape. Many historical contributions have been documented. Central to sustaining these contributions is the continued creation of an infrastructure that builds economic vitality and promotes opportunities for future generations. Thus born . . . YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS ACADEMY (YEA).
GOALS:
- Increase the number of African American youth who can develop the economic capacities to succeed in creating and maintaining their own wealth.
- Mentorship by Sacramento business leaders.
- Create competent, caring and courageous business leaders.
- Provide scholarships for participants.
Eligible Participants: 16-23 year olds with a 2.0 GPA or higher. If selected into the Academy, the student must commit to attend all of the seven sessions and be willing to work with a mentor. Orientation is mandatory.
Structure of the Academy: The Young Entrepreneurs Academy will provide students the theoretical and practical tools necessary to be successful in business.

- Investing strategies
- Savings/Retirement Planning
- Home Ownership
- Career Exploration and Preparation
- Internships/Projects
YEA participants will be closing the Achievement Gap and Creating a Culture of Wealth!
